Fort Dearborn is a US based manufacturer of decorative labels for food, non-beer beverages, household/personal care and other consumer product goods companies. Fort Dearborn’s broad product offering of cut and stack, shrink sleeve, pressure sensitive and roll fed labels enables the company to serve as a “one-stop shop” for its customers. In addition to its product offering, the company offers value-added services such as on-site embedded personnel, product management and inventory management.
The business was founded in 1925 in Chicago and was managed as a family business until 2006 when the company was sold to a private equity firm and the current management team was hired.
In August 2010, KRG Capital acquired Fort Dearborn in a secondary leveraged buyout. ICG provided mezzanine debt and equity to support the buyout.
ICG viewed Fort Dearborn as an opportunity to invest in a clear market leader with stable end markets, an exceptional management team, strong growth through market share gains and attractive acquisition opportunities.
